Uncaged take the high road!
Last week the 'Boycott Herbal Essences' tour reached Scotland, bringing the message of cruelty-free shopping to four new cities, and reaching thousands more people.
On Monday and Tuesday we were in Dundee, on Wednesday in Glasgow, on Thursday in Edinburgh, and on Friday in a freezing cold Aberdeen! For five hours each day, the city centres were taken over by our giant shampoo bottle and rats, making sure no-one could ignore the message to boycott Herbal Essences.
It was a tiring week, but well worth it for the number of people we reached.
Our events were covered by Dundee's Evening Telegraph, and by a number of local and regional radio stations. As always, many passers by were shocked and appalled by what they found out, and vowed to boycott Herbal Essences.
It was great to finally bring the tour up north, and make sure Herbal Essences don't get away Scot-free!
If you live in Scotland and would like to help the Hurtful Essences campaign where you are, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for campaign materials or to be put in touch with local activists.
Campaign convinces former Herbal Essences fan
A former fan of Herbal Essences shampoo, who even made a Youtube video about the shampoo, has put up a new video, plugging our campaign and vowing never to buy Herbal Essences again!
The campaign goes global!
Since we launched the Hurtful Essences campaign in July, we've taken the message all around the country, from Plymouth to Aberdeen and Swansea to Norwich.
Thousands of people have approached our stalls, pledging to boycott Herbal Essences, and to spread the message of cruelty-free shopping to their friends and family. Thousands more, from all around the world, have got involved online - signing our online boycott pledge, joining our facebook group, sharing the message via email or through blogs.
In total, over 13 000 people have formally pledged to boycott Herbal Essences, with hundreds of thousands more now made aware of Herbal Essences' animal testing through our city-centre events, the work of local animal rights groups around the country, online activism and word of mouth.
Uncaged will continue to expand the campaign, particularly online, where we can reach a truly global audience. As long as Herbal Essences test on animals, we'll be there to expose them!
